Economy
The economy of Balıkesir is mostly based on agriculture and animal husbandry. The industry has also generally developed towards the processing of natural resources with agriculture-based industry. Production of agricultural products (vegetables, fruits), white-red meat, olives and olive oil, milk and dairy products comes to the fore. Balıkesir province provides 20% of Turkey's white meat production, 10% of egg production and 14% of feed production. In addition, it ranks second in milk production and third in red meat production throughout the country.
